Rob Koremans appointed Senior Vice President, Generics Europe and President of Zentiva
September 2, 2009 – Sanofi-aventis (EURONEXT: SAN and NYSE: SNY) is pleased to announce today that Rob Koremans is appointed Senior Vice President, Generics Europe, sanofi-aventis and President of Zentiva.
Rob was previously Chief Executive Officer of Cryo-Save, Europe’s leading stem cell storage company, prior to which he had held senior regional management roles in Gruenenthal and Serono.
Hanspeter Spek, Executive Vice President, Pharmaceutical Operations, said: “ I am extremely pleased to welcome such a great professionnal as Rob within our commercial operations. His extensive experience of the European pharmaceutical market will be of susbstantial benefit to us, for the implementation of our European Generics Platform, which will allow the Group to capture additional growth opportunities in Europe.”
Based in Prague, Rob Koremans will report jointly to Jiri Michal, Chairman of Zentiva, for his responsibilities within Zentiva, and to Hanspeter Spek for his leadership role with the European Generics Platform. Rob Koremans will be responsible for increasing cooperation within the company's generic activities in Europe and for building a genuine European platform for the sanofi-aventis generics business. Rob Koremans will be a member of the Pharmaceutical Operations Committee.
Rob Koremans holds a Medical degree from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, Netherlands. He started his career in 1988 at Sanofi BV, the Dutch subsidiary of Sanofi SA. He later on joined the Serono Group in 1993 and was appointed Vice-President, Europe in 1998, before joining Gruenenthal in 2000 where he was appointed Member of the Executive Board between 2003 and 2007. As from 2007, Rob was Chief Executive Officer of Cryo-Save, Europe’s leading stem cell storage company.
